About Mercury Soul
Mercury Soul merges classical music and DJ/electronic musics in immersive events using elaborate production and stagecraft. Founded by Artistic Director Mason Bates (DJ Masonic), the organization has produced events at San Francisco venues such as The Midway, Great Northern, Ruby Skye, DNA Lounge, Halcyon, and Saint Joseph’s Society for the Arts as well as producing official events in Chicago, Washington DC, mani and Pittsburgh.
About the Featured Guests
Led by violinist Gail Hernández Rosa and bassist Daniel Turkos, Beneath a Tree explores the interrelationships between early classical music and traditional folk music. For this evening’s performance they will be joined by Sebastian Quintero on theorbo, a historical precursor to the lute. Additional music will be performed by cellist Byron Hogan.
